Steps to fix negative thoughts
It is important that you are able to admit that you have a problem with a negative thought mindset.
Once you take the initiative to admit that this is a problem, then it is important to begin to understand your thought process.
One great way of doing this is by journaling.
Journaling for a month or more can help you to understand your thought pattern and why the emotional responses follow.
When journaling, make different columns.
For the first column, title it “Moment.”
In the second column, put the title, “Thought,” and in the last column, title it, “Emotional Reaction.”
After heading your journal, you are ready to begin.
When your partner or spouse does something that is upsetting to you, write it down in your journal under the heading, “Moment.”
Then, under the heading thought, journal what thought came to your mind immediately when the situation took place.
And finally, jot down your emotional reaction to the situation.
After a few days, look over your journal and compare your thoughts and your emotional responses.
By being honest with your thoughts and emotions, you can make changes.
